Tröllaskagi Menntalskolinn Wellbeing

Today we got to listen to Iceland's presentation about their school and their well-being. They told us about their activities, for example skiing, football, volleyball, badminton, and watersports. We also got to see their beautiful scenery and nature. They have a lot of mountains and snow. We also learned that you often need to drive through tunnels to get to your destination. In the winter there’s a high possibility for avalanches, therefore they often check the weather app, where they can see the condition of the road and if there’s an avalanche warning.

In their school there are no final exams and on Fridays there is no school, because they do not have free periods. Sometimes you do classes online, and the teachers can teach from other countries or from home with the help of robots. The school has a lot of open spaces where the students can be, like art rooms, gaming roomsand mostly empty rooms with sofas. There are a lot of sofas where the students can relax and do their schoolwork.

To showcase their well-being, they made a quiz, where the students could give feedback, and the staff got more information about what they could improve on. Overall, the small school, stress-free environment, intimacy between students, and advanced technology makes it a very student-friendly environment.
